Sõrve Matkamaje

Where

At the northern end of the little village of Salme and just south of the river Salme a road to the east and immediately on the right hand side a large public building which contains the public library, a café, the post office and family doctor and hall with 200 seats. A sign visible from the north reads Sõrve Matkamaje. Enter the imposing foyer by the large glass swing doors and at the end on the right go up the stairs to find the Sõrve Guesthouse.

Price

We prebooked directly by email early in the year but the facility was far from full when we were there. We paid 650 EEK ($75 australian) for a double room with breakfast.

Character

A very clean, modern, surprising facility. The internet connection downstairs in the public library is free and extremely fast. The librarian was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was in a well lit room at the end of the corridor. Fresh bread, berry jams, cold meat and freshly boiled eggs etc. We were able to leave our bikes overnight alongside the stairs down in the foyer.

Verdict

Good value - recommended.
